ENGLISH LEAGUE TEAM
N.Z. Visit in Doubt (Rec. 10.50) BRISBANE, June 25. The Manager of the English Rugby League team, Mr. Gabbatt, is still unable to clarify the position about the team’s visit to New Zealand. He said that a definite decision was impossible until advice was received about the team’s departure from New Zealand. If going to New Zealand meant, the arrival of the team back in England in October, the trip would’ have to be cancelled. They were prepared to play twelve games in a fortnight in New Zealand, if necessary, to get away early enough to arrive home by the end of September. English Team to Fly to N.Z. TOUR NOT ABANDONED (Rec. 11.50) SYDNEY, June 25. The “Sun” says:—Some members of the English Rugby League team may not even see the third test at Sydney on July 20, if the present transport arrangements to New Zealand hold. The' members of the touring party have been booked to fly to New Zealand in three divisions. The first one’is leaving on the day of the test. The next leaves on the fQllojying Sunday; and the remainder on the; Monday. Nothing definite has been d'Jpided yet on the New Zealand tour, which was in doubt till recently;' But it is, now expected to eventuated J”." England v. Wide Bay VISITORS EXTENDED BRISBANE, June 25. 1 The English Rugby League team beat Wide Bay by 16 to 12 at Bund’aberg to-day, after being held to an even score, .five all at half-time.
