A copy of the proposed new Clerical Workers’ Award was received, and the Secretary pointed out the main points of difference between this award and the existing award. The Secretary reported that the balance-sheet of the Power Fund Account at the bank was £5,498 Bs. The figures regarding range sales under (lie Board’s financial assistance sclime showed that 126 consumers had received advances of £16,075 10s Bd, of which £2,225 15s 5d was still owing to the Board, secured by hire purebase agreement. The Engineer reported as follows: "Gangs have been engaged on general maintenance and new connections. A short extension has been completed at Kumara .1 unction for residences and the small farm load there, and a street lighting circuit at Ikamatua is being installed. Since last meeting seven new applications have been received and permits issued., Five new consumers have been connected. Applications now total 5,414 and consumers 5,402. Twenty-four permits have been issued for alterations to existing installations. Four extensions have been completed. Three ranges have been installed for the month, and three water-heaters have been installed. Power loads are normal at present. Some investigation will have to be carried out in the Reef ton district to provide for a large increase in coal mining operations there, and indications seem to show that the Board will require a further point of supply from the overland. transmission line when available, in order to cope with the development taking place in that district. The connected load for the month was: Light 1.80 k.w., heat 26.00 k.w., water heat 3.60 lew., cooking 21.30 k.w.; total 52.70 k.w.
