WATERSIDERS' ELECTION

For National President P.A. AUCKLAND, Jan. 28 Three candidates will contest the election for position of National President of the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Union, which will be held on February 7 next. They are: Mr. FI. B. Barnes (the present President) who is also President of the Auckland Branch; Mr. J. Flood, the immediate Past President of the National Union and the Secretary of the Lyttelton branch; and Mr. R. O’Donnell, the President of the Wellington Workers’ Union. ■Mr. Barnes defeated Mr. Flood by a close margin in the last election in 1944, when they were the only two candidates.
