Stewart, has issued the following appeal to residents and former residents and friends of Kumara: In sincere appreciation of your friendship which Kumara has enjoyed through times of adversity, we feel confident of your help in these days of victory and peace, and in making a direct personal appeal to you, my committee feel confident that you will respond liberally with financial help. The loss of our Memorial Hall is a personal loss either directly or indirectly to every citizen. The assets from the fire (approximately £1000), is only about half the amount needed to start rebuilding. We have good offers of financial assistance from several citizens and business firms, providing that all round help can be secured. The workers too, have agreed to put in work and wages to help rebuilding. We solicit your help financially and payments can be made promptly either in a lump sum. or in quarterly or monthly payments as most suitable to you. The erection of the new hall will depend almost entirely upon the success of this appeal. Wo feel confident of your kind co-operation and wish you a merry Christmas and happiness and prosperity in the New Year. Your remittance will be gratefully acknowledged by the citizens.
