RUGBY FOOTBALL

KIWI TEAM TO PLAY WALES TO-DAY. CARDIFF, January 3. The N.Z.E.F. team against Wales will be: Scott, Sherratt, Smith, Argus, Proctor, Allen, Saxton (captain), McPhail, Haigh, Simpson, Blake, Young, Rhind, Arnold and Finlay. Kearney is still unable to play following his Cardiff injury, but this will be balanced by the inability of the Welsh to get Haydn Tanner back from Italy in time for the match.

Saxton has not played recently, but it is believed his shoulder injury has now cleared up and the selectors are evidently taking a chance to gain the advantage of his generalship. .In the pack the selectors have preferred speedy forwards for places for which there was keen competition. General Frgyberg and Mr Fraser will see the match, after lunching with the Lord Mayor of Cardiff, who today gave the team a civic welcome. On Monday they inspected the docks and enjoyed a complimentary luncheon, and yesterday spent some hours underground inspecting a coal mine.
