Miss Joan Dando is exnected to arrive to-day from Auckland to spend a holiday with her parents Mr. and Mrs. W. Dando, Taylorville Mr. and Mrs. W. McPhee and daughter returned early in the week from a visit to Christchurch. Mrs. A. Crawford and .Miss Nola Crawford visited Wanganui to attend the wedding of Miss Aileen McDonald which took place on Thursday.. Miss Alwyn Walton M Christchurch is spending a holiday with her mother, Mrs. Walton, Taylorville. Brunner Women’s Institute met on Tuesday, Mrs. Gutbertlet presiding over a very good attendance. ( An invitation from the Greymouth Institute was received. The delegates chosen for the Federation .meeting were Mrs F. Williams and Mrs Bourke. Remits were discussed. Ar • rangements were made for the Birthday to be held on October 27. and all other institutes to be invited. Final arrangements were made for the Debutants’ Ball. It was decided to stop sending soldiers’ parcels, to help the Reception "Committee to raise funds to hold a shop day to be held on October 6, to canvass all Taylorville and Wallsend residents. Mrs. Moore, and Mrs. Todd offered to canvass. Mrs S. Bell gave a very interesting demonstration on faggoting and was accorded a vote oi thanks. ! g rs - Bourke won the wandering shilling competition. Mrs J. Dixon won a competition for the best sponge, and Mrs Todd for the best jar of flowers. Mrs. Rodgers had a very nice display of flowers, which she. sold for Institute funds. A dainty supper was served and the meeting closed with ‘ ! God Defend New Zealand.” 1
