(Our Own Correspondent) WESTPORT, August 23. The Kaimiro arrived this morning from Auckland, bringing 90 tons of general cargo. After discharging, she commenced loading coal for Auckland. The '.Kartigi arrived from Auckland this morning, and is loading coal for return. The Titoki is due back from Tarakohe on Saturday to load again for return. Cpl. J. Small left this morning on return to Christchurch. Sergeant G. Lapsey and Mrs Lapsey left to-day on return to Christchurch, after visiting Mr and Mrs J. Fountaine, Derby Street. Mrs J'. Taylor has arrived from Christchurch to attend the wedding of her nephew, Mr E. Austin, Hector. Mrs C. Austin, of Richmond, Nels m, is visiting Westport for th.* AustinConnew wedding. The death occurred yesterday morning, after a lengthy illness, of Mrs Louisa Mary Shanks, wife of Mr Jonn W. Shanks. Born in Bayford, Somerset, the late Mrs Shanks had res’ded in Westport for the past 37 years. She was actively associated with the Mothers' Union, Women’s Institute, Plunket Society, Buller Caledonian Society, and the Order of St. John, or which body she had been an honorary associate. During the Great War ot 1914-18, Mrs Shanks was actively associated with Red Cross work undei the auspices of the Britisn Red Cross Society and the Order ot St. John, Westport branch. Besides her pjisband, she leaves two daughters. Miss W. L. Shanks, and Mrs F. W. Taylor (Westport), three grand-children, two brothers, Messrs William F. Pound (Grevmouth), and Thomas U. Found (England), and two sisters. Mesdames B. Ball and L. Wigmore, who also reside in England.
