F'. Boustridge returned last evening from a visit to Lake Tekapo. The Right Rev. F. W. Stephenson, Church of England, Bishop of Nelson, is visting Greymouth. Her Excellency, Lady Newall, returned to Wellington yesterday from the north. —P.A. Cpl. E. E. Creagh, of the. R.N.Z.A.F., arrived by last evening’s express on a visit to his mother in Hokitika. Mr and Mrs P. Daniels will leave to-morrow on a holiday visit to Nelson. Warrant. Officer T. O’Connor, 2nd N.Z.E.F. has left on a visit to Cnristchurch. Mr. P. H. Morey, district engineer, New Zealand Railways, is visiting Greymouth. Mrs N. Bowman, Runanga, ~ left yesterday morning for Australia, where sne will in future reside. Mr K. W. Kilpatrick, Dominion Organiser for the Victory Loan, who has been visiting the West Coast, returned to Christchurch yesterday, morning. Warrant Officer Thomas Heard, and Private Charles Henry Hearn, both of Greymouth, who have been prisoners of war in Germany, aie now safe in the United Kingdom. Messrs A. A. R. Smith (Greymouth), L. N. Diedrichs (Hannan), and F’. K. Buckley (Runanga) members of the 2nd. N.Z.E.F., left for a Canterbury camp yesterday morning. Cpl. P. Boyd, of the R.N.Z.A.F, and recently- returned from overseas, in company with Mrs Boyd, returned to Hokitika last evening from a holiday visit to the North Island. Guests at Revington's Hotel include: Mr. and Mrs. W. Card Moore (New York), Mr. and Mrs Heagreaves and son (Wellington), Miss J. Nolls (Ashburton.), Mr. and Mrs. Wainwright (Wanganui) Messrs Chas Bonner, W. Littlewood (Auckland), E. Pratt (Christchurch), N. J. Groves ( Kinloch, Otagd). Guests at the Albion Hotel include. Hon. G. R. Hunter, Messrs G. Sherlock. E. D. Lawn, Mr and Mrs L. Minehan (Christchurch), Mr and Mrs F. Walker. Mr and Mrs B. Allen (Wellington), Mr and Mrs F. Croit (muiberley), Mr and Mrs A. E. Sutton (Napier), Mr and Mrs H. White (Paengaroa). Mr and Mrs B. S. Simpson, Mr G. T. Jones, (Auckland), Messrs J. M. Duncan (Darfield), T G. Waring (Invercargill), W. P. Barrett (Palmerston North). Miss E. Moore, infant mistress at the Grev Main School, who has spent the whole ‘of her teaching career of 36 years at that school, has resigned, and’ terminated her duties ’ yesterday, afternoon. Miss Moore was presented with a standard reading lamp, on behalf of the teachers, by Mr. J. Graham, headmaster. Master Fred Rose spoke on behalf of the pupils. Ex-pupils of the school' 1 will honour Miss Moore at a function to be held after the term holidays. The death took place yesterday afternoon at the Grey Hospital, of Mrs. Anne Ford, wife of Mr. James Ford, of Hokitika. She had been ill for some time. A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. Lees, deceased had been a resident of Greymouth for a number of years. She was born at Runanga 41 years ago. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, lan (Hokitika), four sisters, Mesdames W. McTaggart (Dunollie), H. L. Cox (Greymouth), A. Lake and E. Dunn (Christchurch) and two brothers, A. Lees and E. Lees' (Grey,mouth). The funeral took place yesterday at Karoro Cemetery of Mr Frederick Woodward, of Westport, a well-known figure in the Labour Movement on the West Coast. The late Mr Woodward was born in Victoria and came to New Zealand about 45 years ago, settling at Westport. He was associated with the Waterside Workers’ Union in Westport from 1910 until the time of his death, except for a break from 1913 to 1920. He was also closely connected with the Labour Party from its early days. Several of Mr Woodward’s workmates travelled from Westport yesterday to the funeral. The service was conducted by Rev. P. Kirkham.
