Mrs Pat Connors, Waiuta, is visiting her daughter, Mrs J. Harrington, Runanga.
The German News Agency announced that von Metaxa, the Austrian Davis cup tennis player, has been killed on the western front. L.A.C. R. Baird. R.N.Z.A.F., who has been spending leave on the West Coast, returned to camp on Saturday morning.
I-lon. C. F. Skinner, Minister of Rehabilitation, accompanied by Mrs. Skinner, Miss Jean Tully (stenographer), and’ Mr. B. Coury (private secretary) return to-day from a visit to South Westland, and leave by the Coast road for Westport.
The funeral of the late Mrs. Ellen Blake took place on Saturday morning, following Requiem Mass which was celebrated by Very Rev. Father J. Long; who also officiated at the graveside, assisted by Rev. Father Flaherty. Many floral tributes were received testifying to the esteem in which the deceased was held.

The death occurred at Greymouth on Sunday morning at the residence of her son. of Mrs. Mary Manderson.A native of Scotland, and 67 years of age, Mrs. Manderson came to Dunedin when a child, residing with het parents at Kaitangata. She came to Dobson some 50 years ago, but for the past 40 years she had resided at Runanga, being one of the pioneer residents, having arrivfed befoie there were any roads or railways to the township. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Peter Manderson, three daughters, Mesdames A. Broome (Hokitika) and S. Dixon (Wellington (, and Miss N. Manderson (Runanga), and by six sons, Leonard and Archibald (Christchurch), Gordon (Greymouth), Douglas and Stanley (Runanga), Alexander (Auckland); also by two sisters, Mesdames J. Sharp (Runanga), and Mrs. A. Mayne (Christchurch); and by two brothers. Mr. Alexander Forrest (Kaitangata), and Mr. John Forrest (Runanga). The funeral takes place at Karoro Cemetery to-morrow afternoon.
