A mental hospital, costing about £2,000,000, is being built at Lake Alice, near Marton. It will extend over some 560 acres.
The Minister of Health, Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer said last night that some milk issued to school children was being diverted to other uses. If this practice was continued, appropriate action would be taken immediately.

The loss of three head of cattle by a Red Jack’s settler, evidently as the result of the operations of .deer shooters, emphasises the need for increased care on the part of shooters, especially with the approach of the Easter holidays and the roaring season. The danger of both animal and human life, it. has been suggested, would be less If all those out shooting would ask permission before going on to farmers’ properties, as in this way a check might to some extent be kept on the whereabouts of shooters who might otherwise be unaware of the presence of each' other.
