ST. PATRICK’S DAY

TO-DAY’S SPO.RTS AT VICTORIA PARK

The celebrations of St Patrick’s Day will take the form of the annual sports gathering,. and all roads will lead this afternoon to Victoria Park. There is a large programme of chopping, cycling, footracing, and field events, for which there are large entries, and the competitors include quite a number of the most capable performers of the Dominion in their respective classes. Several champion cyclists are competing, while' the axemen are among the best on the Coast. There are numerous athletes, while National dancing events will add greater variety to the programme. Numerous floats will be featured in the usual spectacular procession which will take place before the sports proceeding through the principal streets from the Hibernian Hall to the park. There will be a booth, tea rooms, and ice cream stalls. For the school children there is also an ample programme of races and other contests.
