SUCCESS IN SUMATRA WATERS LONDON, March 15. In recent patrols in the far-eastern waters, British submarines sank sev-enty-four enemy vessels, including a small tanker, a minelayer, an armed trawler, an anti-submarine trawler, and an auxiliary. Th e remainder comprised junks, landing craft, coasters, and motor lighters. One submarine fought a running gun action against five enemy coasters and one armed trawler off northeast Sumatra. The trawlei' and one of the coasters was sunk. Four coasters were driven ashore, where two burst into flames, and burned .out. Two submarines bombarded enemy shore installations at Pulopadang, on the west coast of Sumatra and Nicobai' Island.
