RACING AND TROTTING Greymouth J.C. With the prospect of excellent weather and a fast track, the Greymouth Jockey Club’s meeting at Omoto to-day should be one of the most successful in the history of the Club. The Hannan Memorial is the principal race on the card, and the topweight, Grand Forest, is the likely favourite. The Orari-traihed All Night will appreciate the drop in weight, also the improved track conditions. J'ustitia has run some sound races. She is a speedy: mare, who should find no trouble in negotiating the Omoto turns. Rawamaha'i is reported to be very well, having freshened up since his Marlborough exertions. Pedantic is an improver quite capable of surprising, especially if the pace happens to be slow in the early part. Rockery and Roman Son have done well since Kumara. Both these geldings will appreciate the ten furlong journey. Sunny Sal, Greenbank and Night Pal can stay, and it may be left to the latter to battle it out with Grand Forest and Justitia. Among the hacks, Authentic, who displayed consistent form on the circuit during the holidays, Ruling Moments, Twelve Pointer and The Pied Piper would appear to have good chances of being in the money. On his Kumara running, Foreign Ways should take a' hand in the finish of the Novice Stakes. Another who should put up a good performance is Legal Right. Of the remainder good efforts can be expected from Chelton, Royal Tor and Belfort. Handy fields are carded for the trotting events. Emerald Isle has a big private reputation and was second at her last appearance. News Agent raced prominently at Forbury to be a good third to Radiant Scott and Elaine Travis. Bay Acron and Surrey Park, both from B. Thomson s stable, are a speedy pair, while the best has yet to be seen of Navy Queen.
