WHANGAREI, Feb. 15. While engaged in shunting operations at the Fortland Cement Works last night, a Maori, Sydney Brown, 22, married, employed as a firemanshunter, was fatally injured when struck by an engine. He was taken to hospital hut died on admission. TAUMARUNUI, Feb. 14. The foreman of works for the Taumarnui Borough Council, Mr D. Akhtar, lost £3BO when his home was broken into while he was at work and the family was out. The money was taken from - a suitcase and included 67 £5 notes. COLLISION FATALITY.. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 15. Mr Richard Treneary, aged 70, of Langdown Street, Waltham, died ai Christchurch Hospital this evening as the result of head injuries suffered when his car was struck by a train on Stewart's Gully crossing on Wednesday evening. Mrs Selena Treneary, aged 72, suffered head injuries in ’the accident. She was also admitted to hospital and is still seriously ill.
