8.0.W. RUGBY, Feb. 13 General B. B. Davis, is the only coloured General in the United States Army. He greeted the first . contingent of coloured W.A.A.C.’s to be drafted to this theatre of operations on Monday. The General met the W.A.A.C.’s at ths'-r destination from which they went to Birmingham, where they were given a rousing reception. They were met by Colonel Frederick Herr, Comman dant of the Western District.

JAMESON’S NEW ZEALAND SQUADRON LONDON, February 9. “We will have to call your wing ‘Jamey.’s New Zealand Empire’,” AirVice Marshal Harry Broadhurst told Group-Captain P. Jameson, D. 5.0., D.F.C'., of Lower Hutt, when commenting on the fact that it included not only the New Zealand Temnest squadron, but also several New Zealanders in other squadrons. During January this wing, operating deep into Germany from Holland and carrying out armed reconnaissances over Munster, Rheine, and Hanover area, was very successful. Comprising several squadrons it destroyed forty-nine enemy aircraft, probably destroyed four, and damaged thirtytwo, destroyed thirty locomotives, trucks, damaged 546, and damaged damaged 223, destroyed fifteen barges. New Zealanders who were outstanding in their leadership said, Group Captain Jameson were Squadron Leaders A. E. Umbers, D.F.C. and Bar of Dunedin. E. D. Mackie D.F.C. and Bar of Waihi, and K. F. Thiele D. 5.0.. D.F.C. and Bar. Squadron Leader Mackie who has now shot down a total of seventeen enemy aircraft, made several excellent attacks on ground targets.
