Thursday’s Allied communique from Italy says: With improved weather many local engagements have taken place in Italy, filie enemy-on the Eighth Army sector launched small counter-attacks which were repulsed and the general position is unchanged. Ground previously held by the enemy in the mountains southwest of Faenza was evacuated. Our fighting patrols on this sector were most active. The enemy on the main Fifth Army front launched counter-attacks in varying strength and gained some ground in the vicinity of Monte Castellaro, south-east of Bologna, and we were forced to abandon Monte Belvedere, north-west of Forrettaterme.
