In a hard, dose finish to the New Zealand Cup, Kevin headed Lowry Bay with a hundred yards to go and held on to beat him by three-quar-ters of a length. Glenfalloch was half a length back and just in front of Langue d’Or and Amorlad, who were followed by Lambourn, Rink, and Royal Lancer and Arustra, Capronella and Foxhaven. Voltaire lost his rider with three and a-half furlongs to go. Lowry Bay was handy to the lead- ' ers until near the six-furlong post, where he was taken to the front. He fought on solidly, but Kevin was too good for him. Glenfalloch ran a I game race carrying 9st. 21b. He was well back for the greater part of the distance, and when he started to make up ground with six furlongs to go Kevin followed him. The favourite, Amorlad, had every chance, as i he was with Lowry Bay starting the 'run home and then weakened to fifth 'just behind Langue d’lOr, whichwas

Baker, rider of Alpine in the Middleton Handicap at Riccarton, to-day, was dismissed by the .judicial committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club.

South Auckland Trots BIG RACE TO DUNKIRK. P.A. HAMILTON, November 25. The South Auckland Trotting Club’s Spring meeting was held in fine weather. The track was in excellent order. There was a complete upset in the Waikato Handicap when, as a result of a fall in the straight, the favourite Stewart combination, Jack HighStuart Lee-War Guard, was eliminated and the well-supported Blue Stock was also put out of the contest. The incident occurred after a little over three furlongs. Blue Stock (F. J. Smith) fell and Jack High (Stewart) went over the top of him to crash heavily. Stewart Lee, Warguard and Bay Machine were check-

ed badly. Smith was taken to hospital with a fractured jaw and concussion. Blue Stock broke a leg and was destroyed.
