WEDDING

EGG LETON—PENDER. The wedding of Elsa Phyllis, youncest daughtei’ of Mr .and Mrs J. Pender, of Christchurch, to Douglas Henry Eggleton, Cobden, ex N.Z.E.F. was solmenised at St. Paul’s P'resbyterian Church, Christchurch recently. Rev. Stuart Francis officiated. The bride, escorted by her father, wore an off-white satin gown made on slim-fitting lines, with handsmocking at the shoulders and at the waist on the back panel which fell into a long train. The V-neckline and long pointed sleeves were . finished with rows of double faggoting. Her veil (a family heirloom) fell from a top-knot of white roses. She carried a bouquet of white roses, magnolia and maidenhair fern. She was attended by her sister, Mrs N. Steele (Oxford), Miss Audrey Curtis (Christchurch) and Miss Laurel Boustridge (Greymouth), all being frocked alike in green, pink and mauve taffeta frocks and wearing top-knots of pink roses and maldenheii’ fern finished with matching bows of satin ribbon. They carried trailing bouquets of pink roses, carnations .and sweet peas. The best man was Mr F. Eggleton, brother of the bridegroom. Messrs A. Scott and D. Rosanosky were groomsmen. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by her niece, Gwennyth Steele. The reception was held at the Mayfair Lounge where the bride’s mother received the guests wearing a navy wool georgette ensemble, and navy felt hat with a shoulder-spray oi white roses and cornflower. ine bridegroom’s sister wore a black two piece suit with black felt hat and white accessories and shoulder spray. The bride and bridegroom left on a motor trip to Nelson, the bnde wearing a dove grey frock and co.at with modish hat trimmed with beaaing and grey accessories to tone.
