BRITISH FACTORIES

1000 TO STOP WAR WORK. GOVERNMENT TO RENT THEM TO MANUFACTURERS. (Rec. 5.5). LONDON, October 11. The Daily Telegraph says that more than 1000 surplus Government factories, each with 10,000 square feet of floor space or more, will shortly be turned over to manufacturers for peace-time industrial purposes. The factories will not be sold outright or taken over, until they are released from war work. They will, however, be allocated immediately, regardless of when they will become available. They will be let to selected contractors for a term of ten years, with an option of renewal. A Board of Trade official stated that, factories after the last war were disposed of by competitive tender, but the factories this time wall bo disposed of by selection to promote diversification, full employment, and the export trade.
