RUGBY FOOTBALL
WEST COAST UNION Mr. T. Mclntosh presided over the weekly meeting of the Union last evening. It was decided to' invite the Buller Union to send its representative team to play here on October 1 7. Requests from both the Sydenham (Christchurch) 4th grade team and Pirates (Denniston.) 3rd grade team, to play in Greymouth on Saturday were granted. A motion was passed congratulating Mr. R. Birchfield on his selection in the New Zealand team. Messrs Poole, Agnew and Tindale were appointed a selection committee to choose a representative 4th grade team to play ’Sydenham on Saturday. Fixtures were approved as follows: — Senior:—Cobden v Hokitika at Hokitika for McLean Shield; StarUnited v Celtic. Park 1. at 3 p.m. (O. E. Harding); Blaketown a bye. 3rd Grade:—Celtic v' Pirates (Denniston), Park 1, at 1.30 p.m. (C. Cockburn) ; Cobden v Hokitika at Hokitika at Hokitika; Blaketown v Tech, Park 2. at 1.30 p.m. (D. Hogarth). 4th Grade: —Greymouth Representatives v Sydenham (Christchurch) Park 2, at 3 p.m. (J. Minchin).
