ALLIED AIR RAIDS

FROM MEDITERRANEAN (Rec. 1.5) ' LONDON, Aug. 21. An Allied Mediterranean air communique states: Oil refineries in Po land and Czechoslovakia were attacked on Sunday by medium forces of” escorted heavy bombers. Other formations of.heavy bombers attacked rail yards and an airfield in Hungary. Enemy communications, concentrations and gun positions in southern France and northern Italy were • attacked by tactical aircraft. A fighter sweep was also carried out

over Yugoslavia. Our bombers at night attacked tank works near Steyr. Two enemy aircraft were destroyed. Six of ours are missing, from night operations on Saturday. The Mediterranean Air Force flew over 1900 sorties.
