COAST HARBOURS
FULLEST DEVELOPMENT
Government's Attitude
.. WELLINGTON, Aug. 16. The Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. P. Fraser stated to-night: “A misunderstanding apparently has arisen from recent correspondence on the subject of the difficulties associated with the question of the efficient and continuous operation of the Greymouth and Westport harbours. “I wish to make it clear that the Government is anxious that both of these harbours should improve, and should be developed to the full limits possible; and that, at present, investigations into every aspect of the engineering problems involved, are being put in train. Both harbours are of great national importance, and the best expert technical advice obtainable, in New Zealand and abroad, will be sought from the most competent~ engineers with experience in difficult harbour construction.”
