QUEBEC CONSERVATIVES WIN. ALBERTA’S SOCIAL CREDITORS RETURNED. MONTREAL, August 9. T'he Union Nationale, headed oy Maurice Duplessis, holds forty-tive seats in the Quebec elections. Goabout’s Liberal Party won only thirtyseven, compared with the fifty-nine previously. The campaign was fougnt mainly on provincial rights. Duplessis claiming tnat the Godbout administration has sold out to the Federal Government. The Social Credit Government in Alberta was returned with a greater majority than since it took office in 1935. In the previous Parliament, the Social Credit Party held thirty-five of fifty-seven seats. Incomplete results show the Government has won thirty-nine seats for certain. Premier Manning, during the campaign, promised to continue the Social Credit fight for monetary reform. He reiterated faith in Social Credit principles, which include the payment of a national dividend. CONSERVATIVES ABSOLUTE MAJORITY. (Rec. 10.10) QUEBEC, Aug 10. The final Quebec Province election results show that the Union Nationale have won forty-six seats in the Quebec Assembly, thus giving their Party an absolute majority over all of the other parties. The Liberals won thirty-eight seats. The Bloc Pooulaire has won four seats. The other parties won three seats. The result is so indecisive that it is generally predicted that another election will be held shortly.
