FAMOUS SINGER

DEATH IN ROME REPORTED. (Rec. 9.10.) LONDON; July 3. Bepiamino Gigli, tihe world famous Italian tenor, is believed to be dead. The English novelist, Naomi Jacob, has received a message, stating this, from a member of the Italian Underground Movement.

Gigli \Ms prevented from appearing at a British military concert in the Rome Opera House a fortnight ago. This was because of his alleged collaboration with the former German Governor of Rome, General Metzler, and other German occupation offic'als. Italian patriots said that Gigli had hoarded food, and that they had found large quantities of foodstuffs when they raided his house.
