N.Z. NAVAL’S AWARD.

P.A. WELLINGTON, May 2. The King has approved the award of the D.S.C. to Temporary Lieutenant M. V. Rout, R.N.Z.V.R., for good service with the coastal forces in action with enemy light forces. Rout joined the Royal New’ Zealand Navy as in ordinary seaman under Scheme B October, 1940, and after undergoing training in the United Kingdom was promoted temporary sub"beutenant R.N.Z.V.R., in January, 1942, and to temporary lieutenant in July last. He was born in January 191 J, ar Nelson, and prior to entry in the RN.Z.N. was a mining student Hiwife, Mrs. Phyllis J. Rout fee 'des in Suffolk, England, and his fathei, William A. Rout, in Nelson.
