Grevmouth Centre » ANNUAL MEETING HELD Mr A. J. Fairmaid presided over an attendance of about 16 members at the annual meeting of the Greymouth Centre of the Red Cross Society held last evening. Those present included the Mayor and Mayoress (Mr and Mrs F. A. Kitchingham) and the patron (Mr W. Meldrum), to whom the chairman, extended a welcome. The annual report and balancesheet were received and after a* short discussion, adopted. The bal-ance-sheet showed a satisfactory position. It was stated that the decline in funds caused by the paying out of £137 10s for overseas relief purposes had been offset by the recent street collection. Reports from the sub-centres showed that they had had an active year. The secretary of the Voluntary Aid Detachment (Miss N. Brislane) and the organiser of the Junior Red Cross (Mrs Ramsay .Reid) presented their reports, and were accorded a vote of thanks and appreciation for the great, amount of work done during the year The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr W. Meldrum, president, Mr A. J. Fairmaid; vice-presi-dent, Mrs Allan Smith; secretary, Air J. M. Macauley; assistant secretary, Miss N. Brislane; treasurer, Mr O. McLean, all re-elected; committee, Mesdames R. Reid, S. Davis, A. Smith, A. J. Fairmaid, C. Hammond. O. A. Pearson, S. B. White, F. A Kitchingham, A. H. McKane, H. Rollinson, O. McLean, C. Tucker, J. Grant, M. Olsen, O. Innes, Misses M. ; Cambridge. A. Saunders, M. Sullivan, Minehan, M. O’Neill and, Mr J. Anderson. It was left to the committee to appoint representatives to the joint council and the joint committee. < Regret was expressed at the absence owing to illness of the treasurer (Mr McLean) and it was decided to convey to him the wish of the Society for his speedy recovery. Accounts amounting to £5 17s 3d were nassed for pavment. A discussion took place on the constitution of the Centre, and on the motion of Mr J. Anderson and the* chairman it was decided that the incoming committee consider the question' of the reconstitution of the Centre in accordance with, the rules and regulations of the Society.
