Nurse Eileen M. F. Hill, N.Z. W.A.A.C., V.A.D., who has recently been invalided home from the Middle East, has been admitted to Wellington Hospital for further treatment. Nurse Hill has been suffering from a severe attack of typhoid fever followed by pleurisy.

The death has occurred at Allerford, Somerset, England, of Mr. John Dyke Acland, a brother of Sir Hugn Acland, and a son of the late Mr. John Barton Acland, of Mount Peel Station. He was aged 81. Mr Acland was New Zealand born and for some years managed his father’s station at Mount Peel, but was married in England m 1902 and remained there, where he was engaged in farming.

The death occurred at Reefton on Sunday of Hr John Alfred McVicar, who was aged 54 years, and a native of Greymouth. He had lived at Totara Flat in recent years. His wife predeceased him thirteen years ago. He leaves five daughters, Mrs Critchley (Timaru), Sister M. Fidelis (Auckland), Misses Mollie and Nellie (Christchurch) and Norrie (Greymouth), and two sons, John (with the R.N'.Z.A.F. overseas) and James (Christchurch); also five brothers, Duncan (Mawheraiti), Donald (Waiuta), Loftus and William (Totara Flat) and Neil (Christchurch), and two sisters, Mesdames R-. Ronchi (Blackwater) and Brough (Christchurch). The funeral takes place at Greymouth to-day.
