P.A. DUNEDIN, April 28. Tlhe Rationing Controller, Mr. J. E. Thomas, left Dunedin this afternoon for Timaru, where he will comple.e the purchase of forty-two thousand tons of potatoes for Allied troops in the Pacific. Mr. Thomas stated that the quantity of potatoes required for the same purpose next vear, over and above civilian needs, was sixtv-five thousand lons. VEGETABLE PRICES. SEASONAL LIMITS CHANGED. Seasonal changes in the limit ret ad prices for onions and silver beet come into effect on Monday. These changes are provided for in the all-the-year-round vegetable price orders. . The limit retail price for onions is increased on Mav 1 bv id.per lb., and for silver beet bv li'.d per lb. all over New Zealand. Limit prices for other vegetables controlled bv price orders remain unchanged for May. A full schedule of the limit prices per lb. uavable during April in the Westland district is as follows; — Potatoes 2d. onions 2.R1, pickier onions 3'd. cabbage 21 d, carrots lad, parsnips 2id, swedes Id, silver beet 3d. pumpkin 3id. kumera 4:ld. Outside the towns of Greymouth and Hokitika the limit prices for potatoes is 2kl per lb. Tn some remote areas snocial prices for some of these vegetables have been authorisd by the Price Tribunal.
