The Kiwitea is due from Auckland to load for Auckland. The Wingatui is expected from Wellington to-day, and is to load for return. The Korowai is expected from Auckland tomorrow to load for Auckland and Portland Mr. H. H. Hart, of the Public Works Department, returned yesterday trom Cambridge, where lie has been on holiday. Mr. E. S. A. Pearson of Wellington, and formerly local manager of the U.S.S. Coy. Ltd,, is visiting the town. Mr. George Aitken of Westport, has received advice of the death of his grandson, Flight-Sergeant William Murray Aitken, while on active service. Flight-Sergt. Aitken was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Aitken, of Wellington, and was 21 vears of age. The marriage of Isabella, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs N. Forsyth, North Beach, to Corporal Garnett Quinney, R.N.Z.A.F., onlv son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Quinnev. Hastings, took place in the Presbyterian Church, Westport recently. The annual meeting of the Buller Federation of Women’s Institutes is to be held at Hector to-morrow. . Mrs. M. M. Dunningham, M.A., Dip. Ed., has been invited to address the meeting, and her subject will be “Nursery Play Centres.” The Returned Soldiers’ Bowling Club is holding a patriotic day on Sunday next, April 30. on the clubs green. Play is to commence at 1.45 p.m., and ail bowlers, both ladies and men have been invited to attend. At yesterday’s meeting of the Buller County Council, the Hon. W. H. Mclntyre intimated that lie would not be contesting the forthcoming election He had represented the Millerton Riding for 29 years, but found that he could not now devote ine necessary time to the affairs of the riding. The Chairman, Mr. J. Wai cl and councillors referred to the good work done bv Mr. Mclntyre during his term of office and a vote of thanks was recorded.
