Laid in New York, the plot revolves around an ancient Serbian legend that certain women have power of transforming themselves into huge cats, to slap their lovers. Irena'Dubrovna, a fashion sketch artist, believes herself to be one of these "cat people,” and consistently avoids romance. ""But the pleadings of young Oliver Reed, a young ship designer, soften her resistance and she marries him. Immediately her fears return she insists on being a wife in name only. Oliver’s .efforts and persuasions of a noted psychiatrist fail to shake her. Olixgsr then prepares to annul the marriage and marry another girt Irena’s jealous heritage gets out of control, and & series of swift dramatic happenings ensue, leading to a thrill-packed climax. Tingling, melodramatic action, the kind originated by the famous Dead End Little Tough Guys, is said tn dominate their newest picture, “Keep ’em Slugging,” now showing at the Opera House. .
