KUMARA NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent) Mr. John Stewart .and Miss Martha Stewart left for a holiday visit to Dunedin on Thursday. Mr. W. Pritchard of Auckland and Mr. Dick Rothwell of Wellington accompanied by Mr. D. R. Dowell of Greymouth? visited Kumara on Thursday. A drama circle is being formed .and classes are being held each 'Wednesday evening. The tutor is /Mr. Worthington of Canterbury College. There was a good attendance last, week at the welcome home ball tendered to Sapper Pat Gilbert and Private Tom Gilbert. The Caledonian Orchestra supplied the music and extras were played by Miss Fay Calder and Colin Goad. The Mayor (Mr. A. B. Spiers) -extended a cordial welcome to the two soldiers who were brothers. It was very pleasing he added to see them back in Kumara among their own people after the strenuous years overseas. Mr. Fred Rudkins, on behalf of the Patriotic Commitee, presented an envelope to each of the soldiers who were accorded musical honours. Private Tom Gilbert returned thanks for the enthusiastic reception given his bro r ther and himself .
