Opera House Now Showing: "Wrecking Crew”’ & “Close Call for' Ellery Queen” “CLOSE CALL FOR ELLERY QUEEN.” Ellery Queen, master of mystery whose crime-hunting exploits have provided the material for a score of books, several dozen radio dramas .and four sensational motion pictures has again returned to the OperaHouse in Columbia’s “A Close Call for Ellery Queen,” fifth in the thrill packed series. William Gargan essays the title role as Ellery Queen, whilst Margaret Lindsay remains as Nikki Porter, Ellery’s lovely crime and man-hunting secretary. Charley Grapewin again is seen as Inspector Queen, the gruff, bluff police-man-father of the suave criminologist, and James Burke continues as Sergeant Velie, whose feet are almost as flat as his head ! “WRECKING CREW.” Excitement, action, laughter and romance are provided in abundance in “Wrecking Crew” features Richard Arlen, Jean Parker and Chester Morris, now showing at the Opera House. This dynamite laden drama tells of men who flirt with death, atop toppling buildings in between fights on the gruond.
