OWEN GUN

SYDNEY, Dec. 20. An Owen gun has been sent by General Blarney to Marshal Chiang Kai-shek as a personal token of the Australian Army’s goodwill. The gun was taken to China by a Chinese officer who had been.on liaison duty in Australia. This gun was invented by an Australian, Evelyn Owen, in 1940, and has been mass produced since early last year. Australians who have used it in New Guinea regard it as the best automatic rifle for jungle fighting.
