GREY MAIN SCHOOL

PRESENTATION OF WATKINS MEDALS. The presentation of the Watkins Medals to this year’s winners, Clifford Dalziel and Colleen Gifkins. took place at the Grey Main School yesterday morning. Mr J. F. Laing presided, and the presentation was made by Mr A. M. Jamieson, one i of the trustees. Two other trustees, Rev. P. Kirkham and Mr P. ,C. Heaphy, .and the parents of the winners were among those present. Mr Jamieson referred to the work of Rev. Mr Watkins and to the history of the fund by which the medal was made available. He mentioned that during the year Mr G. E Perkins, one of the trustees ana the first winner of the< medal, had died. , I The winners were given musical | honours and a verse of the National Anthem was sung. . Parents and visitors were entertained to morning tea. COBDEN SCHOOL CONCERT AND PRIZE-GIVING There was a large attendance of parents at the annual break-up concert and presentation of prizes to pupils of the Cobden School. Items were given by children from the various classes. The secretary’ of the School Committee (Mr J. J. Haddock) presented the prizes in the absence of the chairman (Mr S. Anderson).
