GREY LABOUR PARTY

At the monthly meeting of the Grey Branch of the Labour Party, held in the Lyceum Hall, Mr J. B. Kent presided over a very good attendance of members.

Dr. M. Fere wrote requesting the names of the various branch secretaries as it was her desire to distribute literature.

Members expressed great interest in the Runanga Community Week. Two new members were enrolled, and it was reported that the number who have joined this branch during the past 12 months was thirty-five.

It was decided to invite the National Secretary, Mr M. Moohan, to attend the annual meeting of the branch in March.

The chairman gave a very interesting and detailed report on the recent election campaign, .and on the excellent work done by the branch, the L.R.C. and the many supporters of Labour in th e Westland district.

It was resolved that the following nominations be forwarded to Head Office, Wellington: President N.Z. Labour Party, Hon. Mr Nordmeyer; vice-president, Hon. J. ' O’Brien; secretary-treasurer, Mr M. Moohan; central executive, Mrs J. O’Brien, Mrs Stewart. Mr McKeen< M.P., Mr Chapman M.P. Mr Atkinson; area officer, Mr J. B. Kent. The chairman extended the season’s greetings to all members of the Party and expressed the hope that this would be the last war Christmas, and that the defeat of the Fascist Powers would herald a new era of peace based on security and goodwill among the people of all countries. It was resolved to extend the season’s greetings to the Prime Minister, Hon. J. O’Brien, Mrs O’Brien, Miss C. Moore, Mr J. Roberts (president of the Party) and Mr Moohan, and th e members wished the president (Mr Kent) and secretary (Miss Anderson) the season’s greetings.
