PAY-AS-YOU-GO TAX
MR. NORDMEYER’S COMMENT.
WELLINGTON, Dec. 14.
Asked about the pay-as-you-go sj;stem of taxation' payment, Mr. Nordmeyer said to-day that he idealised the obvious advantages of such a system, but referred to the analysis he had made earlier in tne year of the difficulties of putting such a scheme, into effect. These difficulties he had shown to be largely a matter of skilled manpower, which was not practicable at present. Mr. Holland had suggested a committee of investigation, but full information was. alreadyi in possession of the department and no committee, he believed, could overcome the material difficulties he had outlined.
