BOOTLEG LIQUOR

Police Haul at Sydney

(Rec. 9.55) SYDNEY, Dec. 13. A large-scale “black market” liquor distributing depot is believed to have been uncovered by a raid of police and Customs officers here. Thousands of bottles of bootleg liquor were found in two disused shops. Preliminary tests indicated that most of' the liquor found had been adulterated.

The liquor, which includes a large quantity of whisky, w.as seized under the National Security .Regulations. So large was the quantity that many lorries were required for its removal.

An illicit still was found in a country area last week. The authorities are reported to be working on a theory that the same gang has been operating both manufacturing and distributing organisations. An intense drive is progressing through Australia against all forms of blackmarketing. ~
