(Rec. 8.30) LONDON, Nov. 29. The “Evening Standards” aviation correspondent states:. Flight-Lieu-tenant Raymond Hesselyn, D.F.C., D.F.M. and Bar, a young New Zealand Spitfire ace, who was reported missing after a cross-Channel sweep some weeks ago, is a prisoner of war. Hesselyn was one of the heroes of the air war over Malta in 1942. He destroyed nineteen enemy planes, and also shared in the destruction of another. He was awarded the D.F.C. a month ago while missing. He won the D.F.M. and Bar in ten days during battles over Malta. He was one of the pilots who took the first Spitfires to Malta. He accounted ror twelve Axis planes in a few weeks.
