N.Z. WOMAN

Is She British Subject ? LONDON, Nov. 29. A New Zealander, Miss Annie Roberts, of Ruislip, Middlesex, pleaded the Statute of Westminster, in her defence when summoned at the Uxbridge Court to-day for failing to obey a direction to attend the National Service Office for an interview. She contended that under the Statute she was not subject to the laws of Britain, and would be deprived of her commonwealth and constitutional rights if she obeyed the direction. She claimed the right to go before a Commonwealth Court. She handed the chairman of the Bench a big pile of correspondence she had had with various Ministries. The Court > was adjourned to enable him to read it.
