RUNANGA NOTES
[Our Own Correspondent.]. At the monthly meeting of the Runanga School Committee the following were present: Mr R. J. Armstrong (chairman). Mesdames W. Wright and R. Barker, and Messrs C. Kennedy, W. Patterson, F. Oakley, R. Thompson and R. Ewin (secretary). In his report the headmaster said that the roll number was 240 and the attendance 222. The board’s ’foreman ihad visited ;the school and discussed sun-shading. Messrs Dickie, Bennett, Archer (Inspectors) had visited the school on November 2, and Mr Joyce (Agriculture) on November 9. School swimming lessons were continuing. It was decided to ask the Education Board .to provide sun-shades for windows on the north side of the school and to replace the gate posts at two entrance gates on the south side. The chairman said that the water in the swimming bath had not been changed since November 13. It was decided to close the bath until fresh water is made available. Advice was received from the Country Library Service that the service would be supplied free next year to schools which had been taking the service for two consecutive years and had paid all dues. Christmas greetings were extended by the chairman to the headmaster, staff and pupils and were reciprocated.
