. : Mr. Justice Northcroft yesterday went to Hokitika, where he will spend the week-end before presiding over the Greymouth session of the Supreme Court. Mr. D. R. Frew, formerly of Leeston, who has been released from the army, 'has commenced duty as clerk at the railway station, Kumara J unction. Mr. D. L. Blanchard of the porteiing staff of the Greymouth railway station, will leave to-day to join the Navy. i Mr. P. H. Wylde (Chief Clerk of the Justice Department, Wellington, and Deputy Registrar-General for New Zealand) is visiting his mother, Mrs. C. Wylde, Palmerston Street. Hon. J. O’Brien (Minister of Transport) will arrive in Greymouth by, to-day’s express. Mesdames H. G. Hende, and J. C. Hende (Paroa) and D. H. Stapleton (Hokitika) left yesterday morning on a visit to Blenheim and! Picton. -2 ....; L.A.C. E. E. Creagh will arrive this afternoon to spend leave with his mother in Hokitika. Mrs. E Butler of Wellington arrived last evening on a visit to Greymouth and is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Knowles, Blaketown. Mr. W..R. Connolly of Gladstone, until recently Choirmaster and organist at St. Paul’s Methodist Church Greymouth, was met at a social function on Thursday evening and on behalf of the choir and congregation was presented with a cheque by Rev. E. S. Hoddinott The thanks of the congregation and trustees for Mr. Connolly’s service over a period of six years was expressed by Mr. Hoddinott and Mr. R. J. Williams.
