The Dominion President of the Federation of Women’s Institutes, who is visiting the West Coast, will attend the half-yearly meeting of Westland Institutes at Greymouth... A British Official Wireless message announces the death on Sunday night of Dr Bertram Pollock, who was Bishop of Norwich for 31 years until his resignation in J'une, 1942. He was aged 79. The funeral of Mrs Ellen Parfitt took place at Karoro Cemetery yesterday afternoon and was largely attended. The Mayor of Greymouth (Mr F. A. Kitchingham) was among those present. The services at Holy Trinity Church and at the graveside were conducted by (Rev. P. Kirkham. Mr. L. R. Palmer of Rotomanu. who will be leaving shortly to reside at Ohingaiti* North Island, was farewelled by residents of the district on Monday evening. Several speakers expressed regret at his departure and on behalf of the gathering, Mr. J. Graham presented him with a roil of notes.
Mr. W. E. Scott is expected to be one of the members .of the Land Sales Court. He is a prominent South Taranaki farmer, a returned soldier from the last war, a member of the Dairy Board, and a director of the Joll Co-operative Dairy Company Ltd, and of the New Zealand Co-operative Rennet Company, Ltd, of Eltham. The death occurred .yesterday hfternoon at Greymouth, after a lengthy illness, of Edgar Charles Marchant. Mr Marchant was born, at Oamaru and worked at the Greymouth Post Office as a mechanician. He took an active interest in the P. and T. Guild. Besides his wife he leaves his parents, Mr and Mrs H. H. Marchant, of Invercargill, and two brothers, Len (in camp) and Cedric (Invercargill). The funeral will take place at Christchurch tomorrow.
