RUGBY FOOTBALL
WEST COAST UNION MEETS. The Management Committee of the West Coast Rugby Union met . last evening. Mr. A. A. Adams presided, and there were also present Messrs T. Mclntosh T. O’Donnell, H. Clifford, W. M. Stewat, R. R. King, M. Olsen, M. Jamieson, arid 0. McLean (secretary). Apologies were received from Messrs T. P, Ryan, and F. W. Baillie. The Cobden Club was granted permission to enter into negotiations with the R.N.Z.A.F. team in Christchurch to play a match at Greymouth on a date to be decided. It was decided to forward one application for re-admission to the code on to the N.Z. Union, with a favourable recommendation. Mr. P. N. Storey was agreed on as the Union’s nominee for South Island! selector. The selectors were instructed to select the West Coast tearii to play Buller on July 3 next Saturday evening. The following are the fixtures for Saturday:— Senior: Star-United v. Hokitika, Park No. 1. 3 p.m. (Mr.' EgeletonU Cobden v. Blaketown, Park No. 2, " p.m. (Mr. Minchin). Third grade: Celtic v. Blaketown, Park No. 2, 1.30 n.m. (Mr. Harding). Fourth grade: Blaketown v. Technical B, Park No. 1, 1.30 p.m. (Mr. Longstaff); Technical Av. Technical C. Tech ground, 1.30 n.m. (Mr. Costello). WIN FOR ST. BEDE’S COLLEGE. P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, June 21. When the St. Bede’s and St. Andrew’s College teams met at St. Andrew’s College to-day they struck a treacherous ground.. Neither team had played many games this season, and neither had developed a combination expected in secondary schools’ football. St. Bede’s College won by 9 points to 3.
