HARIHARI NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent* Mr and Mrs W. Berry and family have left on a holiday visit to TimaiMr and Mrs T. Goodman and son are also holidaying m Nelson. Mrs W. Searle. Senr., is a patient in the Westland Hospital, and js progressing satisfactorily. Mrs M. Patrick has been spending a few davs in Hokitika. Mr H. Black' left on Sunday for Bruce Bay, where he will reside for the next “three months. Mr F. Wyatt has returned after undergoing a month’s naming fot the Home’Guard. Mr T. Egan has returned ' after spending some time at The Forks. Mrs W. Berry paid a visit to Hokitika during the week. Mr W. Searle, Senr., spent, a day in Hokitika last week. . On Friday night a dance is being held in aid 'of Comforts for the Boys Overseas. , Mr and Mrs J. Nolan and family were visitors to Grey mouth for the week-end. Week-end visitors to Hokitika included. Messrs J. McLaughlin, W. Thiele, F. Lawson, H. Neilson, B. Cowan and G. Diedrich. M’- M Maroney has returned to the district after an absence of a month. _. Mr L. Inwood paid a visit to Rimu over the week-end. Mr L. Haddock has returned home but will re-enter the Westland Hospital in three weeks’ time to undergo an operation. Rev. Father Maguire will pay a visit to Harihari next Saturday at 9 a.m. ' . , , .. Mr and Mrs J'. Martini have left for a holiday. Mrs Kelleher and daughter have left on return to Methven, after visiting Mrs T. Ford, senr. Mr and Mrs L. Wall are on a visit to Christchurch. . Messrs S. Searle and D. Wright have left for a military camp to undergo a month’s training for the Home Guard. Mrs Morressy of Greymouth, is visiting her daughter, Mrs J. Martini. „ . ~ Mr and Mrs E. Chisnall were visitors to Hokitika at the week-end. Mr J. Ford, who has been employed as assistant mechanic at the local branch of the Road Service, has resigned to go into business here on his own account.
Mr R. Foster is paying a visit to Chr’stchurch. Miss M. Watson is returning to Bruce Bay after spending many months in the district.
The people of this district learned with deep regret of the death of Sergeant Pilot Rex Davis, who was employed here for some time a few years ago, with the N.Z. Road Services. He returned to Palmerston North, where he married, and later joino'd the R.N.Z.A.F. He completed his training in Canada and .arrived in England only a month prior to his death, which occurred in Belfast. Manv residents will remember him as “Dingle,” he having been very popular among his fellow workers and all he came in contact with.
