Miss D. Hager of Wellington and formerly of Hokitika arrived yesterday on a holiday visit to the yv esc Coast.

Mr. Colin McTigue. of Runanga, who recently underwent an operation in the’ Grey River Hospital, returned home yesterday.

It was last night announced that Temporary Lieutenant (A) Lonsdale Hollis Wiren, son of Mrs J. E. -Wiren, Wellington, has been killed on active service with the Navy.

Master Billy Boyle (Kaiata) was third equal in the. marches on Monday, the final dav of the Competitions of th e Dunedin Centre of the Piping and Dancing Association,

Mr. A. Meiklejohn, Alexander St., left by yesterday’s express, en route for Trentham, where he will take up hospital training at the camp. Prior to his departure he was farewelled at his residence by a gathering of friends. A dainty supper was served by the hostesses, and toasts were proposed by Mesdames V. Harris and J. Honey. ' .
