LEWIS’S CHANGE OF FRONT.

(Rec. 11.55.) WASHINGTON, May 20. John L. Lewis to-night led the United Mineworkers’ Association back to the American Federation of Labour, which he tore asunder eight years ago, during Labour’s great schism. The American Federation of Labour President, Mr. Green, revealed that the mineworkers applied for reaffiliation, which is being considered “in an orderly and sympathetic manner.” The Associated Press Washington correspondent says that reaffiliation is a foregone conclusion. Lewis took the mineworkers from the Federation after the 1935 convention, and organised a congress of industrial organisations from which he withdrew last October, following a quarrel with president Murray. :
