An American military secret, a simple chemical 'formula by which sea water can be ' purified, enabling persons adrift to survive for at least twenty-five days, is reported in a cable from Washington. pf.' A. Goetz, California Institute of Technology described the process as a combination of colloidical materials and it was as simple as pouring water from one seabdot into another. Two containers were necessary. One was used for precipitating poisonous materials from the 'salt water. About two hours later the clarified water was poured off. A waterproof container no larger than a ' cigarette case will hold sufficient to purify two quarts.
