KUMARA NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent. Miss Daphn e Hahn has been appointed to the staff of the Kumara Post Office. Mrs. Reedy presided over a fair attendance at the February meeting of the Kumara Women’s Institute. The "Golden Thread” talk was given by Mrs. M. McNabb. Nominations were received for the new committee. Mrs. Wise read a very interesting letter from Miss Eileen Hill, formerly of Dobson, and now a member of the W.A.A.C. in Egypt. The letter described a trip through Palestine. A letter was also received, from a soldier in New Caledonia, thanking the Kumara Institute for a Christmas parcel. Competitions resulted as follows: —Apricot jam: Mrs. Hamer Ist; Mrs. Reedy 2nd; Mrs, Birss 3rd: Lemon honey: Mrs. Reedy Ist; Best bloom: Mrs. Fahey Ist; Mrs. Reedy 2nd; Miss Hamer '3rd. Hostesses for supner were Mrs. Wise and Miss Hamer.
