The official count in the church East by-election was completed last evening, with the result that the majority of the successful cand date, Miss Mabel Howard (Labour) 1-. increased by 172 votes. The pla g are unchanged from the 1 night of the poll. The final totals are:Miss Howard (Labour) •• -bUJ Mr. H. E. Herring (Dem. Lab. 20ffi Mr M. E Lyons (Nationalist) 2371 Mr.' L. A. Effbrd (Peace candi.) 114 Mr. O. J. McKee (In. Socialist) 2_, There were 213 soldiers votes, ol which 106 were cast in New Zealand camns and 107 overseas ■Of these, Miss 1 Howard received 86, Mr. Lyons 49, Mr. Herring 45, Mr. Efford three, and Mr. McKee two. ___________
