Australian Approval OF MR FLYNN’S APPOINTMENT. WASHINGTON’. Jan. 20. A State Department representative testified that Mr Edward J. Flynn’s appointment, as Minister to Australia was submitted to and approved by the Australian Government before its submission to the Senate. Mr Flynn has categorically denied the charges that he represented a Japanese businessman. bribed a Grand Jury foreman with the promise of a Federal job, or placed a notorious gangster on the payroll, or invested New York City funds in a firm in which he held an interest. Mr Flynn declared that no one could truthfully say he knew at any time that paving work was being done by public works employees.
